With 370,000L$, the largest prize money ever given out in Second Life,
the MACHINIMA AWARD 2009 moves into it's final phase.

48 Machinima Producers have entered their Films in the Competition. Subject categories include heartbreaking love stories, beautiful and amazing art films, witty comedies and music clips, and powerful dramatic storytelling. Notable newcomers show their first films. From October 1 through October 11 the three best Films in each category (ART, DRAMA, FUN, LOVE, NEWBIE) will be chosen through the MACHINIMA ARTIST GUILD (M.A.G.) with an online voting system. From October 12 through October 16 the final voting is open to all Second Life® users to vote for their favorite Film within each category.
The Award Presentation takes place October 17 in newBERLIN in Second Life® (19:00 GMT / 10am SLT).
At the same time interested people are invited to join the live broadcast of the Event with Cisko Vandeverre and YOUin3D.com, two of the Award Sponsors, in their RL Studios in Berlin.

About the MACHINIMA AWARD 2009
The Machinima Artist Guild (M.A.G.) is an association of Second Life® users who produce Animation Films (Machinimas) in virtual worlds. Cisko Vandeverre is Initiator and Organizer of the MACHINIMA AWARD 2009. The best Machinima Films in 5 different categories are being sought- ART,DRAMA, FUN, LOVE, and NEWBIE.
The initial prize money of 250,000L$ has been generously underwritten with the co-operation of 5 sponsors:

The competition is open to all registered members of the Machinima Artist Guild (M.A.G.).
One film submission per person is allowed. Entry fee is 2.500L$.
This fee will be added to the prize money bank, meaning the more people who enter the competition,
the higher the award prize money will be.

Award Prize Money will be allocated as follows: Total Award Prize Money will be divided into fifths, with each category receiving one-fifth.

First Prize Winner within each category will receive 50% of that prize money.

Second Prize Winner will receive 30%. Third Prize Winner will receive 20%.

The current amount of the Award Prize Money can be monitored InWorld on each of the Sponsors' SIMs.

Each film submitted for competition will first go through an online preliminary selection, which will determine the top 5 films for each category. These 5 films will then be posted on their Sponsor SIM, and during this time (12. October 2009 through 16. October 2009) will be available for screening and voting on by the general public.

How do I submit a film? If you are not a M.A.G. member, go to the Machinima Artist Guild, register and upload your film there.
Then send the link with your film via e-mail to Cisko Vandeverre, along with the Title Name, Director's Name, Synopsis and Category
in which you want your film to compete. After approval, the Entry Fee of 2.500L$ is due and payable at a "PaySystem", which are located in each of the 5 Sponsor SIMs.

In October 2009, the Members of the Machimina Artist Guild presented the M.A.G. Award, recognizing films in five caregories: Art, Fun, Love, Drama, and Newbie. L$370,000 was given in prize money to 15 lucky winners. As part of a special showing, the winners of the 2009 M.A.G. Awards will be screened at the Bayjou Theater in a special engagement starting on Sunday, February 28th, 2010, with opening events at noon and 3:00 p.m. PDT/SLT. The MACHINIMA AWARD 2009 moves into the Finals! Online voting is now over, and the Finalists have been selected. Since voting was extremely close in some categories, we have decided to take the TOP 5 Finalists in each category into Public Voting. This takes place Inworld from October 12th through October 16. Designated Voting Boards are located on each of the Sponsor SIMs, and all Second Life® Users can vote for their favorite film from each category. We congratulate all of the Finalists and wish them Luck, together with an exciting Finale! Checks in the amount of 37,000L$, 22,200L$ and 14,800L$ for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place Prize Money have already been signed and will be presented to the Winners during the Award Ceremony.
